About Service Sheep
What is Service Sheep?
Service Sheep has two parts that work together: a web console where your congregation manages its territories, maps, publishers and reports, and a mobile app publishers use in the field to work their assigned maps, record visits and send their reports to their overseer.
Who is it for?
Congregations. Each congregation gets a single console, set up for its Service Overseer from day one. From there, you grant each publisher exactly the features they need. Publishers use the mobile app on their own phones.
How much does it cost?
The mobile app is free for publishers. For the console, get in touch and we’ll walk you through it.
Getting started
How do we get Service Sheep for our congregation?
Request a demo and tell us a bit about your congregation. When you’re ready, we’ll set up your console. Then you add your territories, maps, field service groups and publishers.
I’m not the Service Overseer. Can I still sign up?
Setup goes through your congregation’s Service Overseer, so they’re best placed to help. We’d recommend reaching out to them directly. Once your congregation is set up, they can give you access to what you need.
Do we need to install anything?
Not for the console. It runs in your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge), with nothing to download or update and no IT setup. Publishers install the mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.
Can we import our existing territory maps?
Yes. You can draw map boundaries by hand in the console, or import an existing KML file.
Publishers and the app
How do publishers get set up on the app?
From the console, you generate a QR code and passphrase for each publisher, then enroll their device together, in person. It’s a one-time setup that links their phone to your congregation.
How do maps get to publishers and back?
It works just like printed territory maps, only digital:
- The overseer hands out the map. Instead of printing it, they export the map from the console as a .ssmap file and send it to the publisher.
- The publisher imports it. They open the .ssmap file in the app, which then downloads the map once. This step needs an internet connection.
- The publisher works the territory. In the field, no internet is needed. Each door, return visit and Bible study is recorded in the app.
- The publisher returns the map. Once the map is worked, they export a .ssrep file and send it back to their overseer, just like handing back a marked-up printed map.
- The overseer uploads it. They upload the .ssrep file to the console, which keeps the congregation’s online records up to date.
The cycle repeats every time the territory is worked.
Does the app work without internet?
Yes, once the map is downloaded. After a publisher imports a .ssmap file, the app needs an internet connection one time to download the map. From then on, they can work it in the field with no internet at all.
Who can see our congregation’s information?
You decide. There are no fixed roles: you grant each publisher exactly the permissions they need, person by person. Personal notes a publisher writes in the app stay on their device and are never included in the .ssrep files they send back.
